Empact Strides, in collaboration with Shenergy, equipped 31 women with practical nail beauty skills as part of a livelihood programme designed to strengthen women’s economic opportunities and support sustainable income generation.
The programme combined hands-on technical training in nail beauty with entrepreneurship development, recognising that skills alone are not enough to create sustainable livelihoods. Participants were supported to understand how to turn their newly acquired skills into viable businesses and income-generating opportunities.
During the nail beauty training, the women gained practical skills in areas such as nail preparation, manicure and pedicure techniques, nail application, hygiene, customer care and professional service delivery. The practical approach enabled participants to build confidence while developing a skill they can use to start or grow their own businesses.
Following the technical training, participants took part in an entrepreneurship training focused on helping them navigate the business side of their work. The sessions covered key areas including business planning, pricing, budgeting, customer management, marketing and using digital platforms to promote their services.
The programme created an opportunity for the women to move beyond acquiring a technical skill and begin thinking about how that skill can translate into sustainable economic independence.
For Empact Strides, this initiative reflects our commitment to advancing women’s economic inclusion through practical skills, entrepreneurship and access to opportunities. By combining vocational training with entrepreneurship development, we aim to support women with the knowledge, confidence and tools needed to build resilient livelihoods.
The collaboration with Shenergy demonstrates the value of partnerships in creating pathways for women to acquire marketable skills and strengthen their economic participation.
