Accessing help during an emergency is often a luxury for people living in marginalized communities, especially in densely populated urban slums like Kibera. In such settings, seconds can make the difference between safety and disaster.
That’s why, as part of our ongoing community outreach efforts, we were proud to host a First Aid and Fire Management Training session yesterday for over 140 men and women in Kibera. This initiative was not just a training—it was a lifeline.
In partnership with Morning Fresh, our mission was simple yet impactful: equip local residents with life-saving skills that can be immediately deployed during a crisis. Participants learned how to administer basic first aid, handle minor injuries, and respond to fire outbreaks—skills that can significantly reduce damage and save lives in emergencies.
Beyond skills, the training fostered a sense of confidence, ownership, and community responsibility. By the end of the session, trainees were already sharing how they would apply what they learned at home, in their neighborhoods, and even train others.
We believe resilient communities are built from the inside out—by equipping people with the knowledge and tools to act when it matters most.
A big thank you to our partner, Morning Fresh, and to the vibrant community of Kibera for showing up with curiosity, courage, and commitment.
Together, we’re building safer, stronger communities—one empowered resident at a time.
